Register Now! Jamila Bey, Winter Solstice Banquet, 12/17/11
We're excited to announce our speaker for this year's Winter Solstice Banquet. Jamila Bey, a Washington DC-area journalist and atheist activist, has been a guest speaker at major atheist, humanist and freethought conferences across the nation. She has also been featured on Atheists Talk Radio and Black Atheist of America. She regularly writes for Skepchick, among many other blogs, websites and magazines, and she currently works for National Public Radio.
Born to a Southern Baptist convert to Catholicism and a non-practicing Black Muslim, Jamila has formally renounced her "confused" belief in the supernatural and is now an out and proud atheist.
She will be joining us to speak on applying humanist principles in the real world, including things like balancing work and worldview, raising a freethinking child, and much more.
The Winter Solstice Banquet will be on Saturday, December 17, at the Fawcett Center at 2400 Olentangy River Road. Registration is $35 for members, $25 for low-income/student members, and $45 for non-members. Doors open at 6pm for the event.
Regstration includes choice of entree (chicken parmesan or stuffed portabello mushroom) with pasta, roasted zucchni, and salad. Appetizers and dessert are also included.
