HCCO, together with COUNT [Central Ohio United Non-Theists] are asking for volunteers for ODOT’s Adopt-A-Highway [AAH] Program! Our area for trash pick up is the Cleveland Avenue/I270 interchange. Please consider participating in this high-visibility community service program!
For more information on the ODOT AAH program, click [here.](https://www.transportation.ohio.gov/wps/portal/gov/odot/about-us/resources/adopt-a-highway)
NOTE: The event will follow CDC COVID-19 protocols as exist at the time of the event.
REQUIREMENTS AND WHERE TO MEET:
All volunteers will be trained in safety before going out onto the highway, and must comply with the following requirements:
1. Before attending, watch [this safety video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qwTaEDNNFLA&feature=youtu.be) created by ODOT.
2. Sign a waiver of liability for ODOT before or on the morning of the event.
3. Participate in a review of safety procedures before going onto the interchange.
We will meet in the Raisin Rack Plaza parking lot [SE corner of the Cleveland Ave/Schrock Rd intersection, just north of the east side of the I270 interchange] at 9:00 AM.
All participants must be 12 years of age or older. Volunteers between the ages of 12 and 17 must have a parent or guardian sign a special release form. Please contact the event host at randall@hcco.org if you are bringing a minor.
As we will be on the side of a busy highway, volunteers should wear loose fitting, brightly colored clothing, long pants, gloves, and comfortable work boots or shoes. Insect spray and/or tick repellent is also suggested. Some walking on steep and/or uneven ground is also required. ODOT will provide safety vests, trash bags, trash pickers, and road safety signs.
Rain date, if necessary, TBD.
Thank you for your participation!
