HCCO Young Families Group – Setting up First Meetup
March 31 @ 9:00 pm - 11:00 pm
Thank you for the response to the initial announcement proposing a new HCCO Meetup for parents of young children! Now that there’s a group of people who have expressed interest in such a Meetup, let’s talk about setting up a kick-off event! Our original idea of using the OSU Museum of Biological Diversity Open House on March 21 fell victim (as did many events) to COVID-19. In place of that, my suggestion would be to keep the first event as simple as possible, perhaps a dinner at a family-friendly venue. That would give participants a chance to meet and to get to know each other in a relaxed environment, to share interests, and to discuss in-person what future events to plan.
If interested, please RSVP to this announcement by March 31, and also send a message to suggest ideas for the first event: venue, day of the week, time. Once ideas have been shared, we’ll post the specifics as a new event, to be as accommodating as possible for those interested. (Given the ongoing uncertainty over COVID-19, I’d suggest picking a date not earlier than mid-April.)
As noted in the initial announcement, the purpose of this new Meetup is for parents of young children (age 12 or below) to connect with one another and to create their own HCCO Meetup specifically for their interests and needs: perhaps game nights, dinners at family-friendly venues, picnics, movie nights, presentations on humanism and children, or any events that young families specifically would enjoy and find valuable. The HCCO board is excited to help young families find more ways to be active in the humanist community!
If questions, please send a message through this Meetup, or email me at [masked]. Thank you!
