Volunteer Opportunities

HCCO is an entirely volunteer run organization. We are only as strong and effective as our community is engaged. Which is why we value our volunteers so highly and aim to provide a wide variety of volunteer opportunities for anyone interested.

Small Commitment Opportunities

The Monthly Program

Greeters for the Monthly Program

This is an ongoing opportunity. We need at least 2 people each meeting to greet and welcome attendees. One person at the front door to let people in and direct them towards the meeting. Another person on the 2nd floor to direct folks towards the sign-in table.

Sign-In Table for Monthly Meeting

This is an ongoing opportunity. This person is needed to greet attendees as they arrive in the meeting room and help them fill out a name tag with the color coded stickers. Encourage guests to sign up for the newsletter. Provide them with the monthly program flyer and any additional supplies for the program. Direct people to the food table and be available for questions. Set up and tear down table.

This is an ongoing opportunity. We need at least 2 people per meeting to help move tables, chairs, lectern, whiteboard, or other furniture/equipment into place before and after the event. Requires the ability to lift 30+ pounds. These volunteers are also needed for help with any decoration setup on the few occasions we have them.

Technical Setup, Operation, and Teardown for Monthly Meeting

This is an ongoing opportunity. We need someone to setup, operate, and then teardown the video camera, microphone, and projector/screen for the presentation. This will include working with the presenter to test things out and recording the presentation. No experience necessary, we can provide the basic training needed.

Miscellaneous

Amateur Photographers for All Events

We need as many people in the community as possible taking high quality photos of our events. These images are one of the easiest and most effective ways for us to promote the community via our blog, newsletter, and social media.

Ride Providers (Carpoolers)

There are always folks in the community who could use a ride to or from an event. We do our best to plan our events close enough to bus lines that public transportation is viable. However, that does not always meet everyone’s needs. If you can help we ask that you make your availability to provide rides known when you RSVP for events.

To get involved:

Comment on the event posting (Facebook or Meetup) for any event you plan to attend that you are available to provide a ride or two.

Stay Plugged-In

If you are unable or unwilling to take on any of the volunteer opportunities above but still want to stay plugged-in in case something you’re more interested in comes along, we would encourage you to join our volunteer mailing list and our volunteer facebook group.

HCCO Volunteer FB Group

This is a separate group from our main community group on Facebook. It is just for sharing, discussing, and organizing volunteer activities for HCCO.
